Last week Tomas quietly watched as brother Kimba was loaded into a travel crate at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa and taken to hospital. This week Kimba returned and the boys bumped heads, rolled and cuddled before heading side by side, deep into their large, natural habitat.

The brothers were born in a circus in Guatemala, but when the country banned animal circuses and ADI arrived to empty the circuses, Tomas had already been sent to a zoo. Fortunately, a few weeks later the zoo surrendered Tomas to ADI and the brothers were reunited at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary.  That was eight years ago.  The boys are seniors now, at 15 years old, but we hope they will have many more years roaring together in the African sunshine.

This weekend, an ADI team will be moving two young lions, BenTzur and Ori, saved from the illegal wildlife trade, from Israel to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. At 18 months old, they have their whole lives ahead of them.
