Tarzan, Chino, Muheeb and Saif have recovered after being sedated by Dr Peter Caldwell at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary for the annual health checks and vaccinations.
Chino had an umbilical hernia (well spotted by our Resident Welfare Manager, Johannes) which Dr Caldwell determined did not need action; Tarzan’s vitamin levels were checked; Saif and Muheeb had blood and urine samples taken. Muheeb has lost weight, so we await the results, hoping he is OK.
Dr Caldwell did visual evaluations on all the residents, and was very happy with their overall condition. We always have in mind that our rescued animals have suffered lack of exercise, confinement, inbreeding, malnutrition and often abuse in the past, which can manifest as disease in later life. It feels very unfair that they can escape their cages but can’t completely escape their past – but the boys are all awake and showing no ill-effects from their sedation.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been supporting our fundraiser for our sanctuary-wide water recycling and waste disposal project. With your help we have raised $47,291.68 and have almost secured the $50,000 match fund from our friends at Big Cat Rescue!
