Ruben update

Ruben is slowly recovering from his seizure but is not yet fully mobile, his balance has been affected. Despite it all, he seems in good spirits, is responsive to his carers, and has a good appetite. He is living in his outdoor den and comes out to sit in the sunshine. Ruben’s food and medicine is being delivered to him on the end of a stick, from the truck, twice a day. We slowly drive into the habitat to feed him and top up his water. Ruben is being incredibly calm, gentle, and cooperating with our Resident Welfare Team. He appears to understand we are trying to help.

RUBEN GETS A GAZEBO: After a long drought, rain was forecast this weekend and so preparations were made for Ruben’s den ahead of time. The top of his den was water-proofed with rubber and because Ruben likes to sit outside the entrance, we have erected a gazebo to ensure he stays dry. Ruben has been very calm and patient with us – we really think he knows we are trying to help.

Dr Caldwell has advised that Ruben’s recovery could take months and we must be patient. Ruben will need physiotherapy to keep his legs and spine moving and rebuild his strength, so we have started planning with Dr Caldwell how we will give Ruben the care he needs and get him through this. The ADIWS technical team has begun plans for adapting his main house. This health setback is not completely unexpected, given the serious health issues Ruben has had all his life, so we must just help him through.
Whatever Ruben needs, we will give him the best possible chance to get fit and mobile.

PLEASE KEEP SUPPORTING RUBEN and help us deal with his special needs, giving him the best life possible.
