BenTzur on top of the world

Like most lions and tigers, BenTzur loves to climb up high to check out his surroundings.  Being apex predators, they do not fear sitting out in the open and love views.

Many of you will remember a special moment two weeks ago, as we prepared to move BenTzur and Ori from Israel to South Africa, BenTzur climbed onto a travel crate and looked Jan straight in the eye.  He loved sitting up on top of those crates.

Now, at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary he loves sitting high on the platforms. BenTzur and Ori’s habitat has 5 platforms with dens underneath, several young trees, the ‘A’ frames all the lions enjoy, and hanging Robustaballs for play. They also enjoy their catnip sacks and other enrichment.

With it being winter in South Africa, the grass is gold and brown and most trees and shrubs are dormant, but we hope to plant more trees in the spring to further enrich their habitat.

They are already listening to the morning and evening roaring of their neighbours along the road and made a couple of attempts at baby roar. Hearing their voices develop as they grow will be exciting, as they are already big boys.
