National Pig Day

It has been three months since pot-bellied pigs, Roosevelt and Churchill, who needed a home arrived at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary.

Roosevelt is more confident and vocal than his brother; he is very demanding for ear tickles! He bustles over and lies down, to signal he’d like some attention behind the ears. Churchill also enjoys ear tickles but is more polite about asking.

Their food favorites are fresh vegetables and fruit treats (some of which we now grow in the Sanctuary garden) and they love rooting in their paddock and having a mud bath.

As soon as they hear their carers, they run to greet them. They especially have a lot of affection for Sello, ADIWS domestic resident carer.

Pigs are playful, social, curious, sensitive animals and are acknowledged as being as intelligent as dogs.
