Our ADI Wildlife Sanctuary Resident Welfare Team (RWT) continues to spend time each week with our rescued lions and tigers. Here, Ernest sits with brothers Coco and Chino, rescued from a circus in Peru – their friend Kesari can be seen in the background. Bonding time is part of our work to build trust with our big cat residents. This helps us to better care for them, especially when there are medical issues.
This trust allows us to give medications with tongs, or come into the night house (as with Ruben), or beckon Leo for dinner – he is fed by hand, with tongs, to ensure he eats all his food, as he is known to get distracted and forget to finish.
Great care and thought is given to every aspect of caring for our lions and tigers.
The residents need care and someone to watch over them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that is our work rota.
You can show your thanks to our wonderful and dedicated team by donating to help complete their housing. Donate here
