Tarzan kisses Tanya better

GREAT NEWS: The lab results for the lump which was recently removed from Tanya’s back by Dr. Peter Caldwell show it was benign. Tarzan was extra protective of his beloved Tanya when she returned from the operation and sat in front of her for a while, as she recovered, tucked inside the den. Over the coming days, Tarzan was licking Tanya and smothering her so much with kisses, that he actually removed one of her stitches! The ADI Wildlife Sanctuary team sent a picture to Peter to check whether this would be a problem, and he said it would be fine. The pair, who were rescued from a circus in Guatemala, are very much back to their old selves, with Tanya as feisty as ever!

Another romantic sunset for Tarzan and Tanya

The world’s most loving lions are settling in for the evening at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa. They stuck with each other through thick and thin in a circus in Guatemala before they were rescued by ADI. In the circus a tiger tore apart Tarzan’s face as tiny Tanya battled to protect him. Last year, our veterinary team gave him a partial lip lift to repair much of the damage. For those of you who remember Tarzan when we first rescued him, you can see the significant improvement in this picture. You may also get a chance to meet this magical pair live of Facebook this weekend.

WE WILL BE LIVE ON FACEBOOK FROM ADIWS SATURDAY (17th) & SUNDAY (18th) 5pm (South Africa); 4pm (UK); 11am (EST); 8am (PST).

Home sweet home

Saved from a circus in Guatemala, we thought you might like to see how Tarzan and Tanya are settling into their new habitat at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. During our recent veterinary day, many of you saw Tarzan and Tanya moved to a new, larger home – the 2.5+ acre Augie Habitat. The lions were initially cautious about exploring and, inevitably, it was Tanya who stepped out to do initial reconnaissance. This picture, on Sunday evening shows the devoted couple enjoying their new love nest amongst the trees. That tiny, bare circus cage in Guatemala must seem a distant memory now in the golden glow of the African sun.

Keep following ADI here and on social media to find out how you can help transform the lives of animals.

Loving lions on Valentine’s Day

A very happy Valentine’s day from everyone at ADI and the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary.

Enjoy Tarzan and Tanya showing the incredible love and loyalty these animals have for each other. They went through hell in a Guatemalan circus but they got their happy ending at ADIWS.

Thank you to all the ADI supporters who made it possible through donations and adoptions.
