Could this couple be any sweeter?

Tarzan and Tanya pictured doing what they love most: snuggling together under the African sun. It’s the peaceful life they deserve after their years of suffering in a circus in Guatemala. They have now been at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary for three years, and they couldn’t look more relaxed and content.

As many of you know, it costs $1,300 per month to care for a lion or tiger at ADIWS. Can you help support Tarzan and Tanya’s care by adopting them?

Adopt a lion this World Lion Day

Can you believe nobody has adopted circus survivors Kimba, David, Kiara2, Mahla and Scarc yet?
Kimba was rescued from a circus in Guatemala, the others from Peru.

When we rescue animals, we aren’t just emptying the cages, we’re also committing to providing a lifetime of care.

There are so many costs involved: food, enrichment, dietary supplements (especially essential for our seniors), hospital transport, constructing habitats and adapting them to cater to their individual needs.

Fathers of the prides

Ahead of Father’s Day, we look back on the rescues of ADI Wildlife Sanctuary dads Leo and Rey Cusco and their families. Take a moment to look what they came from and where they are now.

On the first day of ADI’s operation to empty circuses following Peru’s ban, Leo and his boys Coco, Chino and Rolex were rescued. However, the circus blocked the removal of the lionesses and escaped into hiding. Months later, ADI tracked them down, saving Leo’s beloved Muñeca and daughters Africa and Kiara2, reuniting them before settling them in Africa.

Rescued with their family from a circus in Guatemala at just six months old, Max and Stripes have their whole lives ahead of them – in freedom.

The boys have benefitted from a proper diet and are now huge, powerful, personalities with Max being the natural leader.

Easter is coming – symbolic of new life and beginnings – can you adopt our big boys and help secure their lifetime care? And what a great Easter gift!

Loving lions on Valentine’s Day

A very happy Valentine’s day from everyone at ADI and the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary.

Enjoy Tarzan and Tanya showing the incredible love and loyalty these animals have for each other. They went through hell in a Guatemalan circus but they got their happy ending at ADIWS.

Thank you to all the ADI supporters who made it possible through donations and adoptions.

David and Easy’s first Valentine’s Day

She was rescued from a circus in Colombia and he from a circus in Peru. Who would’ve thought they would roam their own piece of Africa together, but that is just what they do everyday at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. Lions are social animals, and companionship of their own kind is probably the greatest gift we can give them. As we approach Valentine’s Day we will be celebrating the incredible and moving relationships of the animals rescued by ADI. You can help support this through our adoption program. How about giving the loved one in your life a VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT ADOPTION OF OUR LOVING COUPLE DAVID AND EASY?

Cuddle up with an Easter Leo

Easter symbolizes hope and new life, and that is very much the story of our rescued lions and tigers at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. Leo is the Sanctuary father figure and the most senior lion, at 19 years old. Leo was rescued and came to the ADIWS with mate Muñeca and their children Africa, Kiara, Rolex, Chino and Coco – we were told he was daddy to many of the lions in Peru’s circuses. As befits our most senior resident, we act quickly if King Leo has a potential health issue. Most recently, he seemed to be not liking his food and losing a little weight, so we scheduled a dental check for both Leo and Muñeca. In the meantime, we tried hand-feeding with tongs with a variety of foods, cut into small pieces – and feeding him twice a day. Leo picked up straight away, and it seems he likes to be hand fed. Understanding his message, we have adjusted our level of service to boutique hotel style with gold service for seniors!
