This week has seen another important step for the sustainability and survival of the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary (ADIWS), as we drilled two (of three) new boreholes, securing fresh sources of water for our lions, tigers, pigs, cows, chickens, geese, ducks, antelope, plus indigenous wildlife, and the people looking after them.

Sunday is Mother’s Day in the UK, Ireland and several other countries but at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa we like to think it’s every day for our moms: Lioness Kiara, mother of Mahla and Scarc, tigress Lupe, mother of Max and Stripes, horse Amani, mother of Crockett, and donkeys Brighty and Puzzle, mothers of Nugget and Eeyore respectively (and the whole donkey family, who adopted and protect our rescued springbok).

We are pleased to report that the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary on site team has moved into the first completed section of our Tohir Staff Village (TSV) and the final phase is almost finished. Once complete, the TSV will house 15 Resident Welfare carers living on site at the heart of ADI Wildlife Sanctuary.

Guatemala tiger ladies Lupe and Luna are home at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary after returning from hospital.

Luna, one of the tigers rescued by ADI from a circus in Guatemala, is now fully recovered after dental surgery at Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic, and will be heading back to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary today.

Tarzan has joined Simba to have a raised table for eating his dinner. 

Lupe, mother of Max and Stripes, was seen to have an eye injury and has been taken to hospital where she is being assessed by Dr Peter Caldwell.

Understandably, Luna (pictured yesterday) has been missing sister Jade after her recent passing due to cancer.
