Elsa was born ten years ago today at a lion farm in South Africa. Thankfully, she and her sister (from another litter) Lei-ah, were rescued and brought to Panthera Africa BigCat Sanctuary.
In January this year, ADI evacuated the lionesses to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, with transport donated by @DrivenbyNature, after their home was devastated by a wildfire. They will remain in our care until Panthera Africa recovers.
The white lionesses are proving inquisitive explorers, roaming all over the circa 3-acre Siddhi Habitat (our quarantine facility). They are fascinated by their handsome neighbours, tigers Max and Stripes and lions Aziza, Saif and Dhubiya, and are often seen sitting opposite them. They have also taken a shine to little Milo, our young white rescue dog, and will stroll alongside us when the dogs are walked outside their habitat (perhaps they see him as one of their tribe).
Our thanks to the ADI supporters who stepped up to fund Elsa and Lei-ah’s stay at ADIWS and are helping to make their time with us as enjoyable as possible.
