French circus lions explore new home in South Africa

Enjoy as lions Goliath and Coralie, who endured a decade in a tiny circus cage in France, check out their new huge, natural habitat at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa.

The emergency evacuation of white lions Lei-ah and Elsa at the weekend, following the horrific fire at Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary, brought forward the time for Goliath and Coralie to leave the ADIWS Quarantine Unit.

The lions have been enjoying what is actually an extensive facility with a two-room house, 7,000sqft of feeding camps, and a 2.5-acre main habitat. On Friday they walked into the travel crates, no sedation needed, and loaded onto ADI vehicles to drive to their new home the 3.5-acre Augie Habitat.

It seems appropriate that this loving couple from France have moved into what was the home of our sanctuary lovebirds, Tarzan and Tanya, for many years. As Goliath and Coralie explored the long grass, wandered amongst the trees and rubbed their heads together, it reminded us all of the magic of Tarzan and Tanya’s golden years in this love nest.
