Sasha gets her annual check-up

Dr Caldwell conducted a series of checks last week on Sasha after the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary Resident Welfare Team were slightly concerned that she was leaving some of her food.

Although Sasha often does this as the weather starts to get warmer, it is always good for the residents to have regular check-ups in case of any underlying health issues.

In this instance, test results were good, and Dr Caldwell was especially pleased with her increased mobility. Sasha limps on her right leg, where he replaced damaged cancerous bone with a titanium plate.

Sasha is now putting her full weight on the leg, except when she wants to get attention from her carers; she shows signs of a limp, gets their attention, then walks away normally.

The only slight concern is signs of cataracts in both eyes, which is something common amongst our circus survivors due to early age malnutrition. Dr Caldwell has prescribed supplements to hopefully slow down further degeneration.

Sasha was up and about as normal the following day, with a very relieved Resident Welfare Team –  our princess is just being her fussy self with her food.
