We constantly monitor our residents at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary and any changes in behavior prompts an investigation.
Many of you will have seen Max and Stripes, two tigers we rescued as cubs from a circus in Guatemala, jogging alongside the feeding vehicle towards their house at dinner time.
It’s a joyous sight and shows their enthusiasm for food and treats! So, when Stripes did not come for his food, we set up some detailed monitoring, including night-time video surveillance.
He was then persuaded to eat a few small pieces of meat but had little appetite and was subdued. So, we called in Dr Caldwell.
Stripes was darted and taken into Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic, where he was bright and alert on arrival, and is now under observation.
Please send lots of get well soon wishes to Stripes, we look forward to seeing the boys back together.
