Tarzan health update

Our ADI Wildlife Sanctuary sweethearts, Tarzan and Tanya, cuddle and bask in the winter sunshine while Tarzan battles osteo-arthritis.

Tarzan’s condition is serious and he is on pain relief, so we are all very aware that we may reach a point where we cannot keep this magnificent old warrior comfortable, especially in mid-winter.

A month ago, Dr Peter Caldwell sedated Tarzan, gave him a complete check and adjusted his medication. We took the opportunity to adapt his outdoor den with a raised floor and heater.

Two weeks later, Tarzan looked uncomfortable, so Dr Caldwell adjusted his medication. This seems to have helped, especially with Tanya’s constant affection (check out her legs draped over her beloved Tarzan).

On yesterday’s visit, Dr Caldwell checked Tarzan again, and said he was happy with the improvements since being on the medication.

Tarzan and Tanya were rescued by ADI from a circus in Guatemala in 2018 following the country’s ban on animals in circuses.

Keep sending them your love.
