Luna dental surgery

Luna, one of the tigers rescued by ADI from a circus in Guatemala, is now fully recovered after dental surgery at Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic, and will be heading back to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary today.

Professor Gerhard Steenkamp, working with Dr Peter Caldwell, performed a root canal, smoothed a broken canine tooth, and cleaned and scaled Luna’s teeth.

Luna recently lost her sister Jade; they were very close and had been together all their lives, so we have been giving her extra attention and care, to support her through her loss. We are especially grateful to Prof. Steenkamp and Dr Caldwell for undertaking this vital care without the need to keep Luna in hospital overnight. Luna’s aunt, Lupe, also left Dr Caldwell’s hospital this morning, so the pair will be back next door to each other at ADIWS tonight.
