The indomitable Rey Cusco rules over the vast Stephanides Habitat at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s hard to believe that next month marks the start of ADI’s Operation Spirit of Freedom in Peru – a two year mission emptying every circus cage following the country’s ban on wild animal acts. Rey was rescued in the city of Cusco high in the Andes mountains (hence his name) and later flew with 32 other lions to South Africa. Our thanks to Lion Lovers Facebook group who sponsored Rey’s individual rescue ten years ago.
