Six years on, this is life for siblings Tomas, Kimba and Sasha at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. Kimba and Sasha were the first animals we rescued from a circus in Guatemala during Operation Liberty, to enforce the country’s ban on animal acts. Tomas had already been handed over to a zoo before the ban came into force, but when the zoo no longer had space for him, we were given just 25 minutes’ notice to make room for him at the ADI Temporary Rescue Unit in Guatemala. In January 2020, they made the epic 34-hour journey to South Africa.
These days, they enjoy acres of natural habitat to roam, run, and express themselves – as close as possible to life in the wild.
